Aventum Group’s international (re)insurance broking arm Consilium has hired Nick Bird (pictured) as professional indemnity (PI) division head.

“Consilium is a place where talent is nurtured and rewarded,” said Bird, who made the switch from Gallagher. “They are an exciting business with an excellent reputation, and I’m thrilled to become part of the team and play my part in its journey to becoming one of the biggest and best (re)insurance wholesale businesses in the world.”

The Thompson Heath and Bond alumnus was a senior broker within Gallagher’s professional indemnity construction team.

Commenting on Bird’s arrival, Consilium managing director Matt Pini stated: “Professional indemnity is a fast-growing line of business for Consilium, and like us, Nick is focussed, driven, and ready to tackle the challenges of what is currently one of the toughest classes of business that brokers place.

“While others are exiting the market, we see huge opportunity for growth. I am delighted to welcome Nick to the team; our future is driven by our brokers winning, and his expertise will help establish us [as] a lead wholesale broker in PI, delivering solutions and a level of service that our partners simply cannot find elsewhere.”

Consilium is part of Aventum, which used to be known as Direct Insurance Group and currently trades over US$1.1 billion in gross written premium annually.
