Manchester Underwriting Management (MUM) has today revealed its acquisition of the portfolio renewal rights of Pinpoint Underwriting (Pinpoint), a move that will see Pinpoint’s underwriting team join MUM with immediate effect. As per the terms of this acquisition, MUM will retain Pinpoint’s Perth office in Scotland, adding to its existing London, Bristol and Leeds offices.

Pinpoint, an MGA specialising in writing UK professional indemnity, is headed up by Scott Ruff who has over 35 years experience in the industry. Ruff will be joined by Roger Wallace and Brian Kerrigan. Commenting on the acquisition, Ruff said it has been a pleasure working with the team over the last seven years and seeing Pinpoint become the success it is today.

“However when the opportunity was presented to become part of the [MUM] team,” he said, “it was a perfect fit for the Pinpoint team to join a much larger progressive organisation with a similar underwriting philosophy and who understands the importance of good customer service and broker relationships. We look forward to our new journey with MUM and continuing to give a great service to our existing customers and developing new relationships.”

The CEO of MUM, Charles Manchester, noted that the focus of MUM is on the provision of quality products, service and security and that it is great to have the Pinpoint team on board as they have a great reputation, and are respected in the market. The approach of Ruff and the team towards underwriting fits with the MUM ethos, he said, and they will only strengthen the business.
