Underwriting syndicate Probitas 1492 is welcoming a new name to its ranks – one with plenty of experience.

Having led teams at QBE and XL Catlin previously, as well as most recently at Liability MGU, Alastair Herbert will now head to his new firm as head of international liability. He is set to work alongside senior international liability underwriter Stuart Hollins who noted he was “excited” to have Herbert join the line-up because of his vast experience.

Herbert’s experience actually extends across 35 years in the international market. Neila Buurman, Probitas CUO for casualty, believes he is well placed to deliver results.

“Alastair is well regarded in the market, and we’re delighted that he’s joining us at Probitas,” Buurman said. “His extensive insurance expertise will complement the existing team, allowing us to continue to grow the international liability portfolio successfully.”

Herbert added that he was pleased to join “friends and colleagues” that he had known for many years.

“Probitas is extremely well positioned to expand its international liability portfolio and I’m looking forward to helping it achieve the team’s objectives,” he said.
