Covéa Insurance has signed up to the Tech Talent Charter, a non-profit organisation that aims to drive inclusion and diversity of the tech workforce in the UK in a “practical and measurable way”.

According to Covéa, in signing up to the charter, it commits to promoting inclusivity and diversity within its own digital workforce.

With the guidance of the charter, the company said that it will develop and adopt recruitment, promotion and retention plans for tech roles that drive inclusion and diversity. It will also share best practice, experiences and data with other signatories and wider audiences to promote the tech opportunities available to those in under-represented groups.

“To have a culture which is truly innovative and collectively creative takes diversity of thought and experience,” said Graeme Howard, chief technology & information officer, Covéa Insurance.

“We can only achieve that through being a fully inclusive employer, one which really advocates for progressive thinking. This is an opportunity for us to make a real difference through collaboration with other organisations to dispel stereotypes and showcase tech as a viable and exciting career choice for anyone with the interest and aptitude.”

In October 2020, Covéa also signed the Race at Work charter, which aims to tackle barriers to recruitment and progression faced by ethnic minority employees.

“The charter is a fantastic initiative which is working hard to promote diversity in the tech workforce, and I am proud that my department has given it our backing,” said Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nicky Morgan, Baroness Morgan of Cotes.

“Thank you to all of you who have signed up, and those of you who haven’t, please make it one of your New Year’s Resolutions to get signing. Greater diversity is all about making sure the incredible benefits of technology are spread more widely.”
