The Underwriting Agencies Council (UAC) welcomed its new board of directors and celebrated this year's accomplishments at an annual general meeting (AGM) held this week.

Re-elected to the UAC board for another two years were directors Lyndon Turner, NM Insurance CEO; Kurt Nilsen, managing director of Lion Underwriting; and Peter Fryer, underwriting governance manager at XL Catlin. A fresh addition to the board, meanwhile, was Eric Lowenstein, CEO of Tego Insurance.

The new appointees complete the board, together with directors Heath Amber, from Millennium Underwriting; Linda King, from Sterling Insurance; Simon Lightbody, from Steadfast Agencies; and Emily Walker, from Axis Underwriting, who were elected for two-year terms at the 2016 AGM.

Retiring director Rhys Mills, from Solution Underwriting, had decided not to stand for re-election.

After the AGM, Turner was re-elected as chair; Nilsen as deputy chair; Fryer as company secretary; and King as treasurer.

The AGM also saw Turner highlight UAC's achievements during 2017, including nine underwriting expos across Australia and New Zealand; strategic underwriting partnerships with Lloyd's and QBE; and the launch of the UAC-Gold Seal Human Resources Service Centre.

“In 2018, we will re-evaluate all programs and events to maximise the return on members’ funds and ensure a continued focus on the agency sector’s growth,” Turner told the AGM underwriting agencies. “Our strength lies in unity – together we can achieve important milestones for agencies.”
