Steadfast Group's charitable arm has distributed approximately $10.5 million since it was established in 2011, according to the Steadfast Foundation's inaugural impact report, released on Tuesday. Steadfast confirmed in April that the foundation had donated more than $10 million over the previous 15 years.
The foundation, the philanthropic vehicle for Australia's largest general insurance broker network, said it had backed around 70 charities and community projects over the past decade and a half. In the 2026 financial year alone, it distributed more than $654,000 across 25 charities, with funding directed toward cancer research and support, children's wellbeing, mental health services, First Nations programmes, homelessness relief, domestic violence prevention and other community work.
Robert Kelly AM, who co-founded Steadfast Group in 1996 and sits on the foundation's board, framed the report as a reflection of the wider network's contribution rather than the company's own. "The Steadfast Foundation represents the collective generosity of our brokers, underwriting agencies, employees, partners and supporters," he said. "This report demonstrates what can be achieved when people come together with a common purpose of helping others."
Kelly added that outcomes matter more than figures. "While we are proud of the funds raised and distributed over the years, the real measure of success is the difference being made in the lives of individuals, families and communities across Australia," he said.
Greg Fisher, the foundation's chairman, described the report as a milestone. "This report not only demonstrates the impact of the Foundation's giving but also celebrates the people and organisations who make that impact possible," he said.
The Steadfast Foundation typically sets aside about 1% of the group's net profit after tax each year for charitable giving, with charities often put forward by brokers who work with them directly. An independent board then assesses applications against criteria including sustainability and long-term impact.
Beyond its core grant programme, Steadfast also runs an annual convention charity partnership: attendees raised more than $356,000 for Orange Sky Australia at the 2024 convention and over $525,000 for Free 3D Hands in 2025. Past recipients have included Assistance Dogs Australia, the Children's Cancer Institute, Make-A-Wish, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the First Nations-led group Bandu, which works on closing employment and education gaps for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The report lands a few months after Steadfast confirmed Kelly would resume his chief executive duties following a temporary leadership change, and comes as the broker network continues to expand both in Australia and offshore.
Steadfast is not the only name in Australian insurance running a structured giving programme. Suncorp Group has partnered with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal on disaster-recovery and community resilience initiatives, including a $1 million recovery package announced in 2021. Suncorp has also partnered with Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation to support cultural fire practices and community resilience, and runs an employee giving programme that lets staff direct support toward causes of their choosing.
