Southern Cross Health Society has been awarded Canstar Blue’s accolade for Overall Customer Satisfaction, for the third year in a row.

Canstar Blue surveyed health insurance customers across New Zealand on how they rate their providers after making a claim in the last 12 months, and only Southern Cross achieved a five-star review for overall satisfaction.

Southern Cross Health Society chief executive Nick Astwick said the award reflects the insurer’s commitment to the continuous improvement of its members’ experience.

“Timely access to quality care is central to what we do at Southern Cross,” Astwick noted. “Value for money is also essential and last year we paid out ninety cents in claims for every dollar received in premiums which speaks clearly to that.”

He also said the firm’s My Southern Cross digital platform has, for many of its members, made claiming, finding a health provider and checking balances quick and easy.

Other insurers HealthCare, Sovereign and UniMed scored four-star reviews for overall satisfaction. nib New Zealand, which includes Tower, received a three-star rating.
