About Touchstone Underwriting
Touchstone Underwriting is an MGA regulated and authorised by the FCA which specialises in niche, hard-to-place risks and general insurance. The MGA has a variety of key partnerships which include those with Aviva, Allianz and RSA.
The business operates out of offices in Watford, Chelmsford, Dumfries and the City of London and underwrites on behalf of A-rated carriers for its brokers throughout the UK. To offer full support to its brokers, the business also has regional business development underwriters based in the South West & Wales, the North East and the North West and Scotland.

Touchstone Underwriting prides itself on its dedicated broker support team being on call whenever required which helps the business to build relationships with its brokers, and its IT platform which has been designed to optimise accuracy and efficiency.
The history of Touchstone Underwriting
Touchstone Underwriting has been trading since 2007 and is continually looking to develop and evolve its business model to meet the needs of its brokers and clients. This MGA, which is part of the Seventeen Group, was granted Lloyd’s coverholder status in May 2017.
In 2017 and 2018, Touchstone Insurance was voted one of the nation’s top-rated MGAs in Insurance Business’s ‘Brokers on MGAs’ report.
Leadership at Touchstone Underwriting
Managing director – Alan Roe: Responsible for the overall performance of the business, Roe is ACII and FInstSMM accredited and has worked within the insurance sector for 40 years on both the retail and underwriting sides of the business. Roe has been MD at Touchstone Underwriting for 10 years and his aim is to make this business the underwriting agency of choice for brokers.
IT resources and schemes builder – Martin Warr: Warr is in charge of controlling and maintaining the underwriting system of Touchstone and ensuring that this system runs smoothly for the underwriters working in the business. Warr previously worked in a variety of positions including, as a travel scheme underwriter at James Hallam, as a commercial broker at Arnold Fisher Insurance Services and as a property underwriter at AXA Insurance.
Underwriting claims manager – Amy Mead: Mead’s role involves managing the claims handling team at Touchstone Underwriting from FNOL to settlement and recovery. Mead has worked at Touchstone for 12 years and was previously employed at Arnold Fisher as an account handler.

Throughout 2020, the business will see two senior staff members undertake a cycle ride from London to Brighton, a Charity Golf Day, and several employees taking on the 100km Thames Path Challenge.
