Specialist reinsurance broker Capsicum Re has expanded its expertise in the specialist motor and casualty space, with a key addition.

Joining the firm is Shane Aldons, who brings with him more than 20 years of experience in the market and has an extensive background that includes time spent working across underwriting, pricing and senior client relationships throughout Asia-Pacific.

In his most recent stint, Aldons was underwriting manager of international casualty reinsurance for Liberty Mutual Re – spending a decade with the firm. Before that, he was with QBE Re for nine years.

Speaking about the appointment, David Lee, partner, motor and casualty division at Capsicum Re, noted that Aldons is already well-known to the business.

“With many of our team knowing Shane personally, having worked closely with him over the years, we are absolutely delighted to be welcoming him into Capsicum Re,” he said. “Shane’s unique insight, experience and expertise will bring a new dynamic to our strategic ambition to grow and expand the business internationally.

“Shane is well-known and highly respected across our client base and will be a tremendous asset to our team with his proven performance in delivering strong results, whether the market be hard or soft.”

Meanwhile, Aldons said that Capsicum Re has “a great market reputation” and noted he is “really excited” to join the team.
