Former Metro Bank chief financial officer Mike Brierley has joined Admiral Group’s board as an independent non-executive director.

With 35 years of experience in CFO roles within the financial services industry, Brierley will also serve as a member of the audit committee at the British insurer. Last month he was named as non-executive chairman of Admiral Financial Services Limited, the firm through which Admiral’s loans business is written.

Brierley, a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, spent time at the likes of Barclaycard and Capital One Bank (Europe).

“I am delighted to welcome Mike to the Admiral board,” commented Admiral chair Annette Court. “He brings a wealth of experience and will complement and enhance the range of skills we currently have in the group.

“We all look forward to working with him.”

Meanwhile, in a separate announcement, the Cardiff-headquartered insurer said Fidelity Investments parent company FMR LLC has upped its holding in Admiral to 5%.
