As it bids to branch out into more specialist markets, AEGIS London has formed a partnership with specialist marine insurer the MECO Group.

The deal, which actually became effective at the turn of the year, sees the AEGIS Syndicate 1225 provide 100% of the security for all policies issued by MECO’s Transmarine Trade Disruption brand.

Transmarine has actually been running since 1974 and is the UK’s largest specialist in the provision of ‘loss of hire’ and marine trade disruption insurance to ship-owners and operators, and MECO Group CEO Chris Else is excited about what the partnership can bring going forward.

“Transmarine’s relationship with Underwriters at Lloyd’s goes back over 40 years and our new partnership with AEGIS London opens up opportunities to explore synergies and develop new products,” he said.

AEGIS London has diversified into a wide range of specialty classes traditionally written in the Lloyd’s market.
