AFL Insurance Brokers Ltd (AFL) has launched its wholesale property practice, appointing Neil Crouch to lead the new division.

Crouch, former head of broking at Lockton, will pioneer AFL’s expansion in the property market, with an initial focus on North American and Caribbean business. The new director of property – who looks forward to growing the firm’s presence in the wholesale property market – brings decades of industry experience to the role.

“I am excited to be joining AFL at what feels like a pivotal point in the company’s expansion,” commented Crouch. “AFL is working hard to stand out from the crowd, both in terms of the bespoke and highly innovative services it offers its clients, and also through its in-house ethos – offering flexible, collaborative working in a way that is fostering a truly dynamic team.”

AFL chairman Toby Esser said adding a property practice is a natural next step for AFL’s business profile as the broker grows its wholesale capabilities. “Current market conditions make it a compelling case to enter this class, where there is a need for proactive products and services that fully harness the highly skilled underwriting capacity at Lloyd’s,” he explained.

“Crouch is a highly experienced broker, and not only ideally suited to leading our growth in the property sector, but also to mentoring our expanding team,” added AFL chief executive Bob Finch. “We place huge value on nurturing and educating the next generation of talent, and are delighted to welcome him on board.”

The privately-owned Lloyd’s broker is also expanding in other areas including energy and financial lines. AFL has offices in London and Manchester and is part of the Worldwide Broker Network.
