For insurance brokerage Alan & Thomas, it’s important to reward staff with new opportunities – and Jonny Muncer is benefiting from that ethos.

He is moving into the role of business development director having originally joined the firm back in 2015 as executive management assistant.

“It’s very satisfying being able to promote from within the business, and Jonny has all the right credentials to lead our business development, reporting to me,” said A&T chief executive Julian Boughton.

“His task is to spearhead new business, and while current market conditions are challenging, we are confident that our investment in digital lead generation for commercial and private client, and in new digital platforms to service our existing clients will pay off in both retention and new business.

“The lockdown has put digital insurance front and centre in broking, and while I am a great believer in the old-fashioned broking virtues of face-to-face relationship management, the lockdown has accelerated the importance of having a digital offer, and it will continue to play an important business development role in future.”

Meanwhile Muncer said he was “hugely excited by the role” at the South of England specialist and is “up for the challenge.”

“The future for local and community broking in providing first class advice for clients and getting them the best deals has never been more important,” he said. “We have an excellent opportunity to shine and can create so much additional value for both existing clients and the wider prospect landscape. My role also extends to scouting for potential acquisitions, and I forecast a lot of opportunities for deals in the post COVID-19 marketplace. We have tremendous propositions and solutions to shout about and I am looking forward to helping the business go to the next level.”
