Benjamin Turner (pictured) has been appointed as chief information officer for Allianz Holdings in the UK. The appointment was announced by Allianz in a release, following Turner’s six-month stint serving as interim CIO.

Turner joined Allianz in 2020 through the acquisition of Legal & General’s general insurance division (L&G GI), where he oversaw IT, information security, and data protection as chief technology officer. He retained this role at Allianz, while taking on additional responsibilities as IT delivery director for Allianz Personal in 2021. He was appointed CIO of Allianz Personal in 2022 and was later tapped to serve as interim CIO for Allianz Holdings.

At L&G GI, Turner also held the position of head of enterprise architecture, responsible for driving the company’s IT strategy, transformation, and innovation projects. His experience also extends to his time at a leading European consultancy firm, where he worked with enterprise clients to develop cloud, innovation, and application strategies.

As he permanently takes on the CIO role, Turner will take charge of IT for all of Allianz UK and become part of the operations IT executive committee. He will report to Ashish Patel, chief operating officer, Allianz UK.

“Ben has done a terrific job over the last six months as our interim CIO and I’m happy to announce that he is now stepping into the role on a permanent basis,” said Patel. “With his insurance industry background and experience in transformation and innovation he brings a lot to my team, and I look forward to working with him as we drive forward Allianz’s ambitious operations and IT agenda.”

News of Turner’s appointment comes after Allianz Holdings launched an electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme for UK employees as part of its new rewards and benefits roadmap.
