Kate Walker has taken on a newly created post at Allianz Partners UK.

Previously in charge of strategic marketing and innovation, Walker is now the head of direct business. According to the Allianz unit, the appointment will see it renew its focus on offering insurance and assistance solutions to consumers under the Allianz Assistance brand.

“This is a really exciting time to be building a bigger presence for Allianz Assistance in the UK, with our journey starting with the relaunch of our travel insurance offering,” noted Walker.

“We have overhauled our single trip and annual travel and assistance cover along with the digital purchase and claims journey to reflect the needs of modern travellers.”

Among the changes are the inclusion of round-the-clock remote access to UK doctors as standard as well as adjusting the qualifying age limit from 64 to 75. Also, travellers can increase their level of cover to include sports and leisure activities.

“Kate’s appointment reflects our commitment to meeting the changing expectations of leisure travellers,” commented Allianz Partners UK chief executive Tim Tozer. “Kate’s experience in the insurance industry and her understanding of our business approach makes her the perfect person to drive forward the direct business team and shape the success of our consumer offering.”

Prior to joining Allianz in 2016, Walker also spent time at the likes of Bupa and RSA.

“Allianz Partners Group continues to be a world leader in delivering the insurance and assistance solutions consumers need, and it is ranked 49th in the world’s top 100 brands and the number one insurer on Dow Jones Sustainability Index,” added Tozer.

“As head of direct business for Allianz Partners UK, Kate will play a key part in building a successful portfolio that responds to the ways our customers are living.”
