Ardonagh has appointed Mallory Motley as head of international placement, bringing into its group placement team an executive whose career has been built almost entirely on the insurer side of the broker-carrier relationship.
Motley joins from TMF Group, where she served as global head of corporate clients, client strategy and commercial operations, overseeing global sales, marketing and commercial operations across its corporate business. Before that, she spent close to a decade at Marsh, rising to managing director in its insurer consulting group for the UK and Ireland. In that role, she managed relationships with global insurers and led the development of its insurer advisory proposition. She will report to Ron Hayes, who heads group placement.
The appointment arrives at a specific moment in Ardonagh’s development. The group, valued at $14 billion following a $2.5 billion Stone Point Capital-led investment in late 2024, places approximately $18 billion in gross written premium annually, according to the group’s own published figures. That scale creates leverage, but realising it requires structured insurer engagement rather than fragmented relationships across individual businesses within the group.
The placement infrastructure to support that is taking shape. In March 2025, Ardonagh launched Ardonagh Intelligence, a global data and technology unit consolidating capabilities from its Analytics Lab in Mullingar, Ireland and Ardonagh Portfolio Solutions, which has used data analytics to support group placement strategy since 2019. In June 2026, the group launched Axiiem, a specialty insurtech built on what Ardonagh described as seven years of proprietary data, designed to connect data, distribution and capacity across specialty insurance and draw business to London that has historically been placed in domestic markets overseas.
Motley’s remit of working with businesses across the group to identify opportunities to deliver greater value for clients fits into that architecture. Her Marsh background in insurer consulting, in particular, gives her experience in structuring the kind of advisory relationships that sit between a large broker and its major capacity providers.
Ardonagh describes itself as a top-15 global broker by GWP, with operations spanning the UK, Europe, the US, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. More than half of its global property and casualty revenues come from outside the UK. The Group Placement function exists to turn that footprint into a coherent international strategy, one that insurer partners can engage with as a single, data-backed proposition rather than a patchwork of regional accounts.
Motley’s appointment adds insurer-advisory experience to a function that already has the data infrastructure in place. Chris Lay, operating partner at Ardonagh Capital Partners, said the group intended to “bring the scale of the group into full view through our data and placement power.”
