Specialist bike insurance business Bikmo has partnered with BikeRegister, the national bike marking and registration scheme in the UK.

Under the tie-up, BikeRegister members will have special access to exclusive pricing on Bikmo’s Hiscox-underwritten insurance policies, while non-members who purchase a new policy get to take the easy route to join the scheme’s national network. Additionally, all customers will enjoy a 15% discount on marking kits.

BikeRegister currently has 872,891 active members, and 996,252 bikes are registered on its system.

“We are really excited to announce a brand-new partnership with BikeRegister,” commented Bikmo chief executive David George. “Having seen a notable increase in bike thefts since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, protecting riders’ bikes from theft has never been so important.

“By joining forces with the UK’s national bike marking scheme, we hope to offer both of our communities the opportunity to gain complete peace of mind at discounted prices.”

Meanwhile BikeRegister managing director James Brown believes now is an exciting time for cycling in the UK.

Brown noted: “Our aims have always been to protect cyclists’ prized possessions and help the police tackle cycle crime, and this partnership will put us in a stronger position than ever to achieve these goals.

“We have been aware of Bikmo for some time, and admired their progress with interest. We are excited to now be able to bring Bikmo’s market-leading policies to our customers.”

With offices in Chester and Innsbruck manned by riders themselves, Bikmo provides extensive cover for bikes and cyclists across the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Austria.
