It’s been a year of acquisitions in the insurance industry, so as 2018 draws to a close it’s only fitting that we can confirm another brokerage swoop.

Stepping into the spotlight once again is Broker Network partner Boyd & Company. The firm, which purchased Insureness back in May, is back on the acquisition trail picking up Glenavon Insurance this time around – a fellow independent Scottish broker.

Glenavon is based in Edinburgh and focuses primarily on commercial and personal lines within the SME sector. It manages close to £3 million GWP and employs seven people – its Glenavon offices are set to be retained in the move, while directors Kenny Whitton and Clive Hurn will stay on as account directors.

“I have known Kenny and Clive for a number of years and have watched them successfully grow and develop their business,” said Eric Richardson, Boyd’s managing director. “Boyd & Company and Glenavon Insurance are aligned in numerous ways and I’m extremely excited to announce this development and look forward to delivering increased value to our clients via a strengthened team.”

As for Boyd, it is continuing to expand. The opening of a new office in Lanarkshire means it now boasts four offices across the central belt of Scotland while managing £20 million GWP.
