There is a new chair of the claims faculty board of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) with David Bonehill to move on after three years in the role.

Stepping into his shoes is Jeremy Trott (pictured) who has been head of operations, claims for chartered insurer Allianz UK since 2012 – he has also led the operational delivery of all key aspects of the insurer’s claims strategy.

The idea behind the claims faculty is to promote the highest level of professionalism in terms of client service, technical knowledge and ethical practices across the entire claims community, with Keith Richards, managing director of engagement at the CII outlining that Trott’s arrival is well-timed for the faculty.

“Change is a constant for those working in claims as new technologies, regulations, legislation, market conditions and customer expectations impact the way insurers and their service providers have traditionally handled claims and Jeremy’s experience, insight and leadership will help ensure the claims faculty board continues to play a key role in setting professional standards, supporting members lifelong learning and providing a voice for the claims profession on issues related to claims and public trust,” he said.

“With the large number of challenges facing the industry and claims in particular – both technically & non-technically, it is vital that we further develop and enhance standards and skills across claims to remain relevant to the changing world and to align ourselves to our two key goals of public trust and the training and development of our members,” added Trott.
