Cooper Gay poaches rival’s deputy head broker

International player makes latest senior appointment as part of ambitious business plans

Global brokerage Cooper Gay has recruited one of the top executives of rival broker Willis, the London-based firm has announced.
 
Jonathan Prinn will take up his new role at Cooper Gay as head of global placement on September 12. He will report to company CEO Steve Hearn.
 
Commenting on his new job and company, Prinn said Cooper Gay has “clear ambition, remit and growth plans.”
 
“I’m very much looking forward to helping serve Cooper Gay’s diverse client base and working with carriers to create new and innovative solutions both in London or overseas,” he said.
 
Prinn has over 20 years of international broking placement and management to his new role. He joins from Cooper Gay from Willis GB, where he most recently served as deputy head of broking.
 
He was also the previous COO of the Willis global placement company, where he was responsible for the design and implementation of the WillPLACE broking system.
 
Before working at Willis, Prinn served as the global COO of Guy Carpenter’s facultative division and as managing director of Marsh Global Placement.
 
“He has an outstanding track record of implementing industry leading technology and broking solutions which will significantly enhance our proposition and firmly position us a new force in the market,” Hearn said of Prinn.
 
Hearn said Prinn’s hiring is the latest in a series of senior appointment “which offer a glimpse of our ambitions for the future.”
 
“Our plans are ambitious,” he said. “However, by continuing to strengthen our team with proven market innovators and leaders with the drive and vision to support our goals, I am certain that our business will quickly set itself apart from anything in our sector today.”
