esure Group will soon welcome a new chief trading officer, as Peter Simon makes the switch from Centrica on October 01.

Joining the esure Group Executive, Simon had been running the British Gas residential and small business energy supply, with his role seeing him set up its new energy platform business and brands. In addition, he had previously taken control of Centrica Home Solutions and led a turnaround of the unsecured lending business at Barclays.

Now, he is set to take on responsibility for pricing, underwriting and data initiatives at the UK insurer, focusing on building its trading and underwriting capability as it brings all data and analytics capabilities together in a new centre of excellence.

“I’m delighted to welcome Peter to esure. He has an outstanding track record of leading data science and digital based transformation across banking, energy and the services sector more broadly,” said CEO David McMillan.

“His strong trading experience will complement and enhance our existing strengths in pricing and underwriting.”

The senior team at the firm is now complete with Simon joining McMillan, as well as CFO Peter Bole, CRO Darren Boland, CTO Andy Burton, CCO Justin Cockerill, CSTO Roy Jubraj, CCO Graham Hughes, chief people officer Caroline Smith and general counsel and company secretary Kirsty Whitehead.

“I am very excited to be joining esure as part of such a talented team,” said Simon. “I am hugely looking forward to helping deliver the transformation as esure positions itself for future digital and data-led innovation, growth and leadership in a fast-changing world.”
