Gallagher has swooped for a top name from fellow broking giant Marsh & McLennan.

The company has brought in Mark Ettershank as head of warranty & indemnity (W&I) and tax in its major risks practice.

“The opportunities for Gallagher to expand in the W&I and tax insurance space are considerable,” he said. “With the current economic conditions, clients undertaking deals will be presented with increased levels of risk, so it’s a great time to be joining a team which offers clients such a high level of experience and technical expertise.”

Ettershank, who will be responsible for spearheading new business, was previously senior vice president of the private equity and M&A team at Marsh & McLennan Companies. He actually began his career as a corporate lawyer and has also enjoyed secondments with the likes of PNC and RBS.

“We are very happy to welcome Mark to Gallagher. He is a great addition to our experienced team of over 50 risk professionals looking after due diligence, contingency, tax, W&I and portfolio company insurance requirements,” said Alan Pratten, MD of Gallagher’s major risks practice.

“Mark is a great addition to our recent hires of James Bailey and Ian Coleman in our litigation team as we continue to build a team of experienced, ethical individuals passionate about client delivery.”
