Gallagher has launched a new development programme that is open to both new graduates and sales-focused people who are looking for a career shift into insurance sales.

The new Gallagher Futures programme is a two-year development programme that starts this coming August. In the programme, trainees will learn a wide range of skills, as well as study for a certification from the Chartered Insurance Institute. They will also be trained to manage client relationships and grow their portfolio; design insurance solutions; liaise with insurers to negotiate best possible terms; and to create a sales pipeline, interpreting the sales data to uncover trends and actionable insights.

Each trainee will have a local mentor for on-the-job support, and they will also be paired with another participant in the same location so that they can share experiences with one another. They will also receive regular support and learning interventions from Gallagher’s learning and development team.

Trainees will be tasked with filling roles across Gallagher’s various locations in the UK, in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol. The roles are based in three of the firm’s trading businesses – retail, Gallagher Re, and the specialty team.

Applicants will need a minimum of GCSE standard education to be eligible for Gallagher Futures. Gallagher is also on the lookout for applicants with strong communications skills, good planning and analytic skills and a strong focus on customer delivery.

“This presents a fantastic opportunity for people looking to develop their business development and insurance experience. Throughout the programme, participants will get the opportunity to be hands on with clients meaning they quickly get a real feeling for the role and the industry,” said Gallagher HR director Claire Davies.
