Paul Watson (pictured), who was associate director of risk engineering at WTW, has made the switch to Gallagher UK to serve as the latter’s first-ever risk engineering partner.

“I’m delighted to join Gallagher and look forward to developing its in-house risk engineering capabilities,” commented Watson, who brings more than 22 years of experience in insurance and the power and utilities sectors.

“Gallagher Specialty’s clients face complex risks, and there is an opportunity to provide greater value to them by offering enhanced capabilities within risk management.”

According to Gallagher UK’s announcement, the newly recreated role will see Watson working closely with third-party risk engineers, as well as with Gallagher offices globally. His arrival supports the expansion of the company’s risk engineering services across practice areas such as energy, construction, and property & casualty.

“Paul brings a great deal of industry experience to the business, having specialised in energy, power, and renewables for a number of years, and will play a key role in expanding our risk engineering capabilities,” highlighted Julian Raven, chief executive of Gallagher Specialty’s energy, power, and renewables practice.

“This will enable us to provide our clients with best-in-class support and risk management services, while also strengthening Gallagher’s global risk engineering services. Paul is a brilliant addition to the team, and I look forward to working with him on our strategy to amplify our capabilities and deliver an even better service to clients.”
