Two leading insurance firms have announced key leadership appointments in London as they advance their strategic growth and operational initiatives.

Arch Insurance International head of business solutions

Arch Insurance International has appointed Miriam Reid (pictured above, left) as head of business solutions, effective immediately. In her new position, Reid will oversee strategic operations, business improvement, and organisational alignment initiatives across Arch.

Reid brings more than 20 years of experience in the global insurance sector, spanning underwriting, operations, transformation, business management, and strategic leadership. Before joining Arch, she served as head of business management and chief of staff for Beazley’s cyber risks division. Her previous roles also include senior positions at AIG, where she focused on business transformation.

Her remit includes developing scalable solutions aimed at enhancing performance and supporting growth. She will collaborate with underwriting, transformation, and technology teams to deliver initiatives that provide value to brokers and clients. Reid is based in London and reports to chief operating officer Ketan Motwani.

Motwani commented on the appointment, saying, “This appointment further strengthens our operating model and positions us to capitalise on the rapidly evolving digital, AI, and technology landscape across our market.”

Earlier this month, the company also bolstered its construction portfolio with the appointment of Kevin Lumiste as senior construction underwriter in London.

Westfield Specialty head of open market property

In a separate development, Westfield Specialty International has named Andrew Richardson (pictured above, right) as head of open market property.

Richardson, who will be based in London, will report directly to Richard Wood, head of property. He will be responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of the open market property portfolio, maintaining underwriting discipline, and working with clients and brokers to identify new opportunities.

“His extensive experience and deep understanding of the sector will be invaluable as we continue to expand our open market property offering as part of Westfield Specialty’s long-term growth strategy,” Wood said. “He will have responsibility for shaping and executing strategic direction of the portfolio, maintaining underwriting discipline, and working closely with clients and brokers to identify new opportunities and deliver customised and innovative insurance solutions.”

Richardson joins Westfield Specialty International with over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He previously served as head of commercial lines at Faraday Underwriting Limited.

In August, Westfield Specialty also expanded its claims leadership team with the appointment of Melanie Gilbert as head of third-party claims.
