This week’s appointments cover a UK broker group building out its risk management services, and an internal promotion at one of Europe’s largest insurers.
JMG Group has appointed Carl Currie (pictured, left) as regional managing director of its risk management proposition. He is based at its Lighthouse business in Leeds.
The group plans to bring its existing risk management businesses together to extend the reach of its health and safety, HR and employment law services, as it continues to grow both organically and through acquisitions.
Currie has two decades of experience in business operations and risk management. At his previous business he joined as employee number five and helped it grow to more than 100 people. He also holds a coaching qualification. He will work alongside Lighthouse managing director Mary-ann Rorks-Barnard and commercial director Gwyn Evans.
“I am here to support the leaders, to sit next to them and help them get the best out of the team and the business,” said Currie.
Jake Fox, chief executive of MGA, wholesale and specialty at JMG Group, said Currie’s appointment would help take the group’s risk management offering to the next stage.
More broker groups are pairing insurance with health and safety, HR and employment law support, giving SME clients more reasons to stay. Combining JMG’s risk management businesses under one proposition could make those services easier to offer across its network.
For independent brokers, it’s another sign that services beyond the policy are becoming part of the competitive offer.
Generali has appointed Emanuele Moneghini (pictured, right) as group chief audit officer, effective October 1, 2026. He is responsible for the group audit function and for co-ordinating internal audit across the group, assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of its internal control and governance systems.
Moneghini joined Generali in 2005. In 2015 he became head of internal audit for Austria, Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. In 2021 he was named group head of head office and thematic audit, responsible for assurance across business, finance and governance at Generali’s group head office.
The direct impact on UK brokers is limited. The appointment is an internal governance role at one of Europe’s largest insurance groups, filled through internal promotion.
