Two insurance firms have announced key leadership appointments this week: Neil Nimmo (pictured) has been named UK chief executive at Specialist Risk Group (SRG), while Stuart Logue will become chief financial officer (CFO) at Asta.

SRG appoints former Lockton executive

Insurance intermediary SRG has appointed Nimmo as chief executive for its UK operations. According to a news release, the move marks a key phase in the firm’s global expansion, following the appointment of Collin Yap as chief executive for Asia-Pacific in 2024.

Nimmo joins SRG with extensive industry experience, having spent 17 years at Lockton, where he held roles as chief executive and chairman. During his tenure, he led the company’s expansion efforts and oversaw sustained growth. His expertise in strategic planning, leadership, and execution is expected to support SRG’s global ambitions.

In his new role, Nimmo will oversee SRG’s retail, wholesale and underwriting divisions – core areas that have contributed significantly to the firm’s recent growth, the company noted. He will join both the SRG operating board and the group executive committee, subject to regulatory approval.

Founded in 2019 by Warren Downey and Lee Anderson, SRG has grown rapidly, supported by investment from Warburg Pincus and Temasek. The company now reports over £250 million in revenue and employs around 1,500 people, with half of its workforce based outside the UK.

“Neil’s decision to join us is a strong endorsement of our strategy and a reflection of the unique platform we’re building at SRG,” noted Downey.

Asta strengthens leadership with CFO and Board appointments

Asta, a third-party managing agent at Lloyd’s, has announced the appointment of Logue as CFO, pending regulatory approval. He will replace Richard Barke, who is moving into a senior leadership role at Asta’s parent company, Davies.

Logue brings more than 30 years of financial management experience across the financial services sector, according to company statement. He most recently served as interim chief executive at Flood Re, following a successful term as the firm’s CFO. His previous roles include senior positions at HomeServe, Ageas UK, Canopius Group, Direct Line Group, and RBS.

The appointment follows further strengthening of Asta’s board, with Sian Fisher and Andrew Neden recently joining as independent non-executive directors. Neden will chair the audit committee and brings four decades of financial services experience. Fisher offers over 20 years of senior leadership in the insurance industry, including prior roles at Hiscox Insurance and the Chartered Insurance Institute.
