Markerstudy Group has announced the appointment of Joe Barnard (pictured) as director of group sales & business development.

In this newly created position, Barnard will play a pivotal role in establishing synergies between the group’s brands. His responsibilities include conducting strategic planning to enhance overall performance, developing relationships with brokers, key clients, and partners, and maximising new opportunities to drive additional revenue.

Barnard joins Markerstudy from Clegg Gifford, where he most recently served as head of Lloyd’s and London Market. His time there also included tenures as senior property & casualty broker, as well as motor & specialty risks broker.

Commenting on the appointment, Markerstudy chief executive Kevin Spencer congratulated Barnard and highlighted the importance of his new role.

“Within a diverse group, it’s critical we maximise the potential of the combined organisation,” Spencer said in an emailed news release. “Working with our partners to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships is a key area for us, alongside ensuring the new products we bring to market continue to fulfil customer needs.”

Barnard also remarked on his new role at Markerstudy, expressing enthusiasm about the opportunity to shape sales strategy and contribute to its overall development.

“My initial focus will be to increase the coordination between our brands and bring a holistic offer to market,” he said.

Markerstudy announced in September that it will be merging with Atlanta Group, Ardonagh’s personal lines broking business. Direct lender Ares Management Corporation is reportedly backing the merger with a £1 billion loan.
