MetLife poaches Standard Chartered senior exec for Asia role

The senior executive served as the bank’s COO for global corporate affairs and held regional head posts in Asia, Americas and Africa

MetLife has hired a senior executive from British multinational bank Standard Chartered for its business operations in Asia.
 
Ashia Razzaq is to be based in Hong Kong, she will report to Cindy Tang, vice president and regional head of communications.
 
Tang said the industry veteran Razzaq will help boost the regional growth of MetLife.
 
“Ashia brings a wealth of experience and relationship building skills to the business as well as a strong track record of delivery which will prove invaluable in driving our business growth in Asia,” Tang said.
 
Razzaq joins MetLife from Standard Chartered where she served in various senior roles in corporate affairs, including head of investor relations for Asia, regional head of corporate affairs and branding for the Americas and regional head of corporate affairs for Africa.
 
She most recently worked as the bank’s chief operating officer for the global corporate affairs function.
 
Before working at Standard Chartered, Razzaq held various positions in risk management and client coverage at institutions such as Lazard, National Australia Bank and West LB AG.
