The career of Gallagher UK chief executive Grahame “Chily” Chilton has been firmly in the spotlight this week after it was revealed that he would be leaving his role at the brokerage giant later this year. Now, the next step on his path has been revealed.

For Chilton it will be both a step forward and a step back – one that furthers his career but also sees him return to a business he had worked at previously. He is set to rejoin Capsicum Re and work alongside CEO Rupert Swallow in driving its global business development.

“Capsicum Re has built a robust business, that has grown exponentially and we are on our way to becoming a top five global reinsurance broker,” said Swallow. “The whole Capsicum Re team is looking forward to welcoming Chily back and benefiting from his expertise and experience as both a sales leader and the relationship manager of our joint venture with Gallagher.”

Chilton too is confident in the future of the business outlining that Capsicum has become “one of the market’s leading reinsurance brokers in just five years.”

“I have had a fantastic and truly rewarding time in my current role with Gallagher and look forward to re-joining Capsicum Re later this year and working with the team there to maximise the business’ further growth potential, which is significant,” he said.
