There is a new head of cargo at specialist Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group, as Helen Steadman moves into the role.

Steadman boasts extensive experience both in this specialist area and within the industry at large. She joins from Mitsui Sumitomo Syndicate where she was the class underwriter for cargo. Prior to this she was a vice president at Marsh Ltd after beginning her career as a graduate trainee at Willis Faber & Dumas.

The importance of the appointment was stressed by John Owen, divisional head of marine, aviation and political risk.

“Marine is a key class for us and one we have invested heavily in over the last 12 months,” he said. “Helen is a lead cargo underwriter and her expertise and technical proficiency will support and propel our ambitions in this class.”
