BGL Group, the company behind comparethemarket.com, has unveiled a new career development scheme in time for the 11th annual National Apprenticeship Week.

Launched today, the BGL Academy will not only feature a new apprenticeship programme but also incorporate existing ones – its graduate programme as well as the Business Pathway programme – to consolidate BGL’s emerging talent. The new programme alone is set to create over 200 apprentice roles across areas including insurance, technology, customer service, finance, and risk & compliance.

Aside from role-specific training and development, the scheme will also feature buddy/mentor pairing for the first six months, apprentice forums, and quarterly apprenticeship reviews.

“The launch of the BGL Academy is a great example of our commitment to people development and our aim of making BGL a great place to work,” said BGL Group chief executive Matthew Donaldson. “The academy will play to the strength of our data, digital, brand and marketing capabilities and will allow us to share our expertise in these areas with talented people to develop the industry professionals of the future.”

In addition to price comparison, BGL is also in the business of insurance distribution and outsourcing. The digital distributor, which caters to 8.9 million customers, said apprenticeship opportunities will open up throughout the year.
