One of the biggest names in the UK travel insurance industry has put its products back on sale – and that includes coronavirus coverage.

The Post Office has restored its travel insurance products from today (June 17) – they are available both online and through its UK contact centre. Perhaps most significantly for travellers, however, is that it will include cover for contracting coronavirus while overseas as standard across single trip, annual multi trip and backpacker insurance.

According to Paul Paddock, head of travel insurance at the firm, it will also include emergency medical and repatriation costs if someone falls ill – but only if they travel with no restrictions in place from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

“We look forward to welcoming back our customers and protecting them and their upcoming travel plans, when it’s safe to travel,” he said. “It’s likely that coronavirus will be with us for some time. By including medical cover now, we are able to support our customers for the foreseeable future.”
