Specialist Risk Group has brought its wholesale businesses together under a single connected proposition, SRG Global Risk Solutions, aiming to give brokers simpler access to the expertise, capabilities and market relationships spread across the group.
The change, completed on August 3, unites Miles Smith, CBC Partnership, Specialist Risk International and The Underwriting Exchange under the Specialist Risk Group brand, with Kevin Coomber and Earl Adams serving as managing directors of the newly unified team.
SRG said the change is about more than a single identity -- it is designed to create a clearer, more connected proposition for brokers, making it easier to reach the right expertise across the group while letting teams collaborate more closely across markets, sectors and geographies. Brokers retain the same day-to-day contacts, and SRG has said no new teams of business agreement is required as a result of the change.
The wholesale rebrand follows an almost identical move on SRG's retail side earlier in the year.
In March 2026, Specialist Risk Insurance Solutions, itself formed in July 2020 through the merger of Miles Smith Insurance Solutions and Square Mile Broking, and subsequently expanded through the acquisitions of The Channel Partnership, Emrose Insurance Brokers and Hamilton Leigh, rebranded to align its name directly with parent company SRG.
Read together, the two rebrands suggest a deliberate, group-wide simplification: rather than operating a growing collection of acquired brand names across both its retail and wholesale pillars, SRG appears to be consolidating everything under one master brand as its portfolio of acquisitions has expanded.
SRG has grown rapidly since being founded in 2019 by Warren Downey and Lee Anderson, and now generates more than £250 million in revenue with over 1,500 employees, roughly half of them based outside the UK. Warburg Pincus and Temasek acquired majority stakes in the business in 2024, and the group has continued expanding its leadership team since, including Collin Yap's appointment as chief executive for Asia Pacific in 2024 and, more recently, Neil Nimmo's appointment as UK chief executive, joining from Lockton, where he spent 17 years, most recently as chief executive and chairman.
Neil Nimmo, UK chief executive at Specialist Risk Group, said the group's strength lies in the expertise of its people and their depth of understanding of the markets they serve, and that bringing the wholesale businesses together makes that expertise easier for brokers to access.
He said brokers will continue working with the people they already know and trust, but that those teams are now more closely connected to the breadth of capabilities, relationships and expertise across SRG.
Nimmo also said the change is ultimately about making SRG simpler to navigate and easier to do business with, while giving the group's people greater ability to deliver for broker partners and their clients.
Brand consolidation exercises like this one are common after a period of acquesitive growth.
SRG's own history, four separate wholesale names alongside a retail pillar built from at least five separate acquired businesses, is a fairly clear example of exactly the kind of brand fragmentation that tends to accumulate under a private equity-backed roll-up strategy.
For brokers, the practical test of whether this rebrand delivers on its stated promise will be whether cross-referral between specialisms that previously sat in separate businesses, cyber expertise from one former brand, construction or financial institutions expertise from another, actually becomes faster and more visible in practice, rather than the change being felt as a name update alone.
