Starr Insurance Companies has announced the appointment of Joost Vink as head of Europe. In his new role, Vink will be responsible for the profitable growth of all European operations except the United Kingdom, according to Starr, and will report to Jim Herbert, CEO of Starr Underwriting Agents, who heads Starr’s European and UK operations.

“We are excited for Joost to join Starr and head our European operations,” Herbert said. “His extensive background and leadership skills will significantly enhance Starr’s growth plans for the region and strengthen relationships with clients and producers.”

Starr has also announced the opening of a new office in Oslo, Norway. The office, which will add to the company’s significant European presence, will initially focus on general aviation. Starr expects to expand the office’s product offering in the coming months.

“We are delighted to be opening an office in Oslo to serve the Scandinavian region,” said Andy Trundle, chief underwriting officer and global head of airlines. “Our operation will combine local underwriting expertise with Starr’s proven track record for innovation, service standards and market-leading capabilities, while establishing a viable and compulsive insurance solution to meet the needs of our clients and brokers.”
