Vario Partners appoints two new heads

Two new arrivals will take control of research and investment departments respectively

As it attempts to build a formidable team of specialists, Vario Partners, the insurance-linked securities structuring and investment firm, has announced the appointment of two new heads.

Markus Gessman, previously of Lloyd’s of London, takes the role of head of research and modelling. At Lloyd’s he was responsibile for market-wide analytical research and development. Meanwhile, Mike Kontaratos (pictured), joins as the head of investment having previously been an executive director at JP Morgan.

Speaking about the new arrivals, Quentin Moore, a founding executive partner of Vario, outlined how the company is now well-placed to activate and complete transactions effective from January 01, 2017.
“The appointments of Markus and Mike are another milestone in the development of the Vario team,” he said.

“With a strong business pipeline from all sectors of the insurance industry for our whole account securitisation model, and our team of experts now complete, we have all the elements in place to complete transactions and build the Vario funds.”
