Verlingue, the French broker that also operates in the UK, has brought its Portuguese business into the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN). The move gives Verlingue Portugal room to expand its work with fellow member brokers on companies operating in Portugal and the wider Iberian Peninsula.
A founding member of WBN, Verlingue operates in France, the UK, Switzerland, Portugal and Italy and works with independent brokers in more than 100 countries through the network. The move forms part of the Adelaïde Group's Better Future 28 strategy, which aims to make Verlingue the leading independent, family-owned insurance broker in Europe. Adelaïde Group is Verlingue’s parent company.
Vincent Harel, chief executive of Verlingue, said companies expect support that "combines a global vision with local expertise", and that bringing Portugal into WBN reinforces the existing set-up.
Verlingue Portugal was built through acquisitions. Verlingue announced the acquisition of Luso Atlantica, then Portugal's fifth-largest broker, in December 2020, and added RT Global Insurance in December 2022.
For brokers elsewhere in the network, the change puts a Verlingue-owned WBN partner on the ground in Portugal that they can work with directly. Verlingue says that should make it easier for clients to align their insurance programmes across the countries where they operate.
