Recent findings highlight cyber incidents, including ransomware attacks, as the predominant risk for organisations associated with Airmic members in 2024.

Airmic, representing a wide range of professionals in risk management, has emphasised the growing concern over cyber threats within the industry.

According to Julia Graham, Airmic's CEO, the interwoven nature of risks and the rapid pace of change are intensifying cyber vulnerabilities.

“I’m not surprised to see cyber risk continue to top risk polls,” Graham said. “We need to collectively tackle the cyber risk and insurance protection gap as a matter of priority.”

These insights were unveiled during the first-ever Airmic Big Question, a new initiative aimed at gauging current concerns among risk management professionals. Hoe-Yeong Loke, Airmic's head of research, underscored the importance of real-time risk monitoring.

“The weekly Airmic Big Question will take the pulse on what’s front-of-mind for risk professionals,” Loke said.

Besides cyber, the other top risks on the radar of Airmic members are as follows:

  • Changes in regulation
  • Geopolitical risk
  • Political uncertainty
  • Macroeconomic developments
