The integration puts cyber alongside commercial lines renewals, giving brokers a prompt to raise cover earlier in the sales process

More than 60% of UK small and medium-sized enterprises have no cyber insurance, according to GlobalData’s 2025 UK SME Insurance Survey. Brit’s latest move on Acturis is designed to make that conversation easier to have before a client walks out the door.

The specialty insurer has integrated its cyber proposition into Acturis Package, the platform module brokers use for bundled commercial lines placements. Brit first went live on Acturis in May, via the CyberNow channel, which is a standalone cyber route. The package integration is the next step, placing cyber cover in front of brokers at the point of a commercial lines renewal rather than requiring a separate process to initiate it.

A broker quoting a commercial package now encounters Brit’s cyber product within the same workflow, creating a prompt to raise cover before the placement is complete. The May launch served brokers already looking for cyber. The package integration reaches those who were not.

“This is particularly important as demand continues to grow among firms of all sizes for protection against cyber risks, amid an increasingly volatile market landscape,” said Adelle Gruber, class underwriter, cyber at Brit.

A gap that distribution alone cannot close

The case for embedding cyber into package placements rests on where the protection gap actually sits. Uptake is lowest among the smallest businesses, precisely those most likely to be picked up through a commercial package placement rather than a bespoke programme.

The barrier is not awareness alone. Research published by Markel UK in October 2026 found that nearly four in ten UK SMEs without cyber insurance believe they face a low risk of attack. Separately, all 16 brokers in the sample - a deliberately specialist group that included senior members of the BIBA Cyber Committee - reported difficulty comparing cover across providers. Reducing the friction of access does not resolve those barriers, but it removes one layer of them.

Brit is not the only insurer on the Acturis cyber panel. CFC, Cowbell and Markel all have a presence on the platform. The competitive dynamic gives brokers greater choice at the point of quotation, which is the intended purpose of a panel rather than a single-carrier arrangement.

Domenic Provenzano, UK e-trading business development manager at Brit, said the expansion continued the insurer’s focus on making its products accessible across digital distribution channels.
