Ecclesiastical has outdone its home insurance peers, topping the Fairer Finance Spring 2018 Home Insurance table overall.

Fairer Finance – whose gold, silver, and bronze ribbons reward excellence in financial services – has named the following as the leading home insurers in the UK, based on the results of its unique customer experience ratings:

  • Ecclesiastical
  • NFU Mutual
  • Hiscox
  • Nationwide
  • John Lewis
  • Marks & Spencer (M&S Bank)
  • Tesco Bank
  • Bank of Scotland
  • Age UK
  • LV=
  • HSBC

All 11 providers qualified for a gold ribbon, with Ecclesiastical getting an overall customer experience rating of 70% while the other 10 went above 60%. Barclays and Direct Line, both with an overall rating of 60%, bagged silver ribbons; the likes of Co-op Insurance, Saga, and Halifax were among the bronze awardees. A total of 47 home insurers were rated.

Fairer Finance, which surveys over 20,000 UK banking and insurance customers every six months, described the ribbons as a mark of quality that reassures consumers that they are dealing with a brand that stands above its competitors when it comes to service and fairness. The ratings are based on the key areas of happiness, trust, complaints performance, and transparency.

Top-ranked Ecclesiastical secured its highest score in the area of customer happiness, at 80%. Compared to the other home insurers, the charity-owned provider led the customer trust (74%) category as well.

“I am delighted that Ecclesiastical has once again been named as the best home insurer by Fairer Finance,” commented Ecclesiastical Insurance group chief executive Mark Hews. “It’s particularly pleasing that customers have put us top of the table for the seventh successive time and a long way ahead of the best of the rest for customer trust and happiness.”
