Gallagher UK acquires MC Mutual Management

Mergers & Acquisitions

By Terry Gangcuangco

Gallagher UK has added MC Mutual Management Services Limited (MCMM) to its public sector and education practice.

Building on Gallagher’s acquisition of FE Protect last year, the swoop for Mansfield-based MCMM will see director Les Marshall and his 23-strong team continue in their current roles. As a service provider, MCMM has a multi-year agreement with Education Mutual Limited that spans new business quotes processing, handling contributions, and managing claims, etc.

“Becoming part of Gallagher is fantastic news for our business and people,” Marshall said in a release. “Culturally our two firms are closely aligned; Gallagher is known for its ethical approach, and with us fully focussed on supporting the needs of a mutual, which is owned by its members, we are confident that we are likeminded thinkers.

“Furthermore, Gallagher has a firm focus on providing clients with a great level of expertise and is just as focussed on investment in great people, where support, career development, and internal progression are to the fore.”

MCMM has been operational since 2018, providing back-office support to Education Mutual, which is described as the biggest staff absence insurance provider in the UK.

“We are thrilled that MCMM has agreed to become part of our public sector and education practice,” commented regional managing director Tim Devine, who leads the public sector and education practice at Gallagher UK. “The products and expertise in the business are highly complementary to our current education offering, and becoming part of Gallagher will provide them with a springboard for growth.

“Les has built a great team which understands the challenge that staff absence is for schools, and the financial damage that can happen when they do not mitigate the risk, so I am delighted to welcome them all to Gallagher.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
