The Clear Group has acquired four-decade-old business Heath Crawford & Foster Holdings (HCF) for an undisclosed sum.

Set up by Paul Weinberg (pictured) in 1982, HCF spans Heath Crawford & Foster Ltd, ABA Insurance, and Merenda & Co Ltd. The acquired business currently controls £18 million in gross written premium.

“I’ve followed the Clear journey for many years and have always been impressed by its people and the way they do business,” Weinberg said in an emailed release. “Joining forces with Clear now is absolutely the right thing for the growth and future of the Heath Crawford & Foster business.”

Under the deal, Weinberg and his fellow directors have brought a 34-strong team to Clear. They specialise in placing property owners risks and key product classes across commercial, household, motor, fleet, and professional indemnity.

“We’re delighted to welcome Paul and his team to The Clear Group,” chief executive Mike Edgeley commented. “Heath Crawford & Foster is a fast-growing and successful business, which will add tremendous value as we continue to build for the long term.

“It’s also another great example of how Clear is backing great management teams and their people who share our values and ambitions.”

HCF has offices in Watford, Manchester, and Southend.
