Clive Buesnel (pictured), who most recently served as chief executive of Tysers Insurance Brokers, is joining Insurance Advisory Partners (IAP) middle of next month to assume the position of international managing partner.

In an emailed release, IAP co-founder Tony Ursano said: “Clive needs no introduction as an insurance expert and industry veteran, whose highly impressive network, expertise, experience, and strategic insight will be significant as we continue to develop in the UK, EU (European Union), and beyond.

“I am genuinely excited to welcome him to Insurance Advisory Partners, and his appointment brings us closer to our ambition of building a business that sets the standard for M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and capital-raising advice for the insurance, insurance services, and insurtech industries on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Launched in 2021, IAP is a boutique investment bank focussed exclusively on the abovementioned sectors. In his new role, Buesnel will be working closely with IAP partner Bhaven Pathak to execute the company’s international strategy.

Aside from the UK, Buesnel has also worked in North America, Latin America, and Europe. His credentials include time spent at Deloitte, Lloyd’s managing agency Jubilee Insurance, and Xchanging. Based in London, he brings more than three decades of experience to IAP.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the exceptional team at Insurance Advisory Partners at this time,” Buesnel commented. “Offering unsurpassed expertise and unparalleled insight into the world of M&A and capital-raising, IAP has quickly established itself as a benchmark-setting advisory firm that’s ideally positioned to benefit businesses across the US, UK, and international insurance markets.

“I know Tony and [co-founder] David [Kimmel] well and am greatly looking forward to working with them, along with Bhaven in London, and the entire IAP team at such an exciting stage in the company and the market’s development. My objective will be to support the delivery of an amazing client experience that is at the heart of the IAP value proposition and what I passionately believe in.”

Kimmel, meanwhile, added: “We are building a business with a clear purpose: to provide world-class M&A and capital-raising advice to insurers and insurance-related businesses. Our ability to attract celebrated and proven talent such as Clive is essential to achieving that. I greatly look forward to working with him and would also like to extend a very warm welcome to Insurance Advisory Partners.”
