AbbeyAutoline has announced the conclusion of its 50th anniversary programme, revealing that it was able to extend support to over 40 charity and voluntary organisations.

The Northern Ireland broker raised more than £9,000 for local community organisations as part of its anniversary celebrations. Over 400 employees contributed to the programme, which aimed to give back to the communities that have been instrumental in AbbeyAutoline’s success over the past five decades.

One key highlight of the anniversary programme was the ‘50k in May’ challenge, where over 120 staff members undertook the task of walking, running, cycling, or hiking 50 kilometres. Their collective efforts covered 6,000km and raised over £4,000 for AWARE NI.

Another initiative called ‘50 Ways of Giving Back’ saw AbbeyAutoline staff taking part in various projects such as volunteering at food banks, donating needed items to community organisations, maintaining community gardens, and fundraising for local charities.

The anniversary activities also supported the Northern Ireland Hospice, a long-time AbbeyAutoline charity partner. Staff pledged 50 hours of volunteer support, engaging in roles across the Hospice’s 24 shops, participating in bucket collections, and getting involved in garden maintenance at in-patient units.

In conjunction with these initiatives, the AbbeyAutoline staff helped raise £150,000 for the hospice as part of the wider support provided by parent company Prestige Insurance Holdings.

Managing director Julie Gibbons (pictured centre with Prestige Insurance Holdings chief executive Trevor Shaw and finance director Paul Hanna) commented on AbbeyAutoline’s “ambitious calendar of community activity” in an emailed news release.

“Customers, and the communities we operate in, are the focal point of our business, therefore we wanted to mark our 50th year in business by giving back to the communities which have enabled the growth of the company over the past five decades,” she said.

Gibbons also thanked the staff’s support and contribution to the programme, acknowledging their dedication, passion, and “tireless” efforts.

She said further: “As we sign off on our 50th anniversary, AbbeyAutoline proudly stands as Northern Ireland’s largest insurance broker – a testament to five decades of remarkable growth, unwavering resilience, and an enduring commitment to our valued customers.

“We stand tall as the trusted name in the local insurance sector, providing a diverse range of insurance offerings that are meticulously tailored to meet the diverse needs of our loyal customers.”
