For the fifth consecutive year, Ecclesiastical Insurance and Benefact Group are granting £1 million to various charities through their Movement for Good awards

Both opened the opportunity for the public to nominate causes dear to them, announcing 150 awards of £1,000 for selected charities.

Over 800 brokers nominated charities of their choosing to receive the £1,000 grants. Among the chosen charities are Bipolar UK LTD based in London, providing support to those living with bipolar; Gloucestershire Nightstop, offering emergency accommodation for 16-25 year olds; and The Saturday Café Club in Scotland, engaging young disabled children with enjoyable activities. The public's overwhelming support led to the selection of these charities, Ecclesiastical said.

Supporters’ generosity also saw over 15,000 good causes in the UK and Ireland receive votes, with more than 245,000 nominations. The 150 winning charities were randomly selected from the nominations, following a previous selection of 150 winners in June. Throughout the year, Ecclesiastical and the Benefact Group will grant additional gifts.

Since the inception of these awards, close to 2 million people have made nominations, impacting communities across the UK and Ireland. Over £5 million has been given to support over 2,500 charities.

This year, 420 charities will each be awarded £1,000 donations, and 40 good causes will receive £5,000 through special grants, targeted to assist charities in specific sectors. Winners will be chosen at random, with charities nominated more frequently having a higher chance of selection. Later this year, further gifts totalling £500,000 will be provided in larger amounts.

“Thanks to the support of our broker partners and customers, we’re delighted to announce the second 150 winning charities who will each receive £1,000 as part of our Movement for Good Awards,” said Richard Coleman, managing director at Ecclesiastical. “As part of Benefact Group’s family of businesses, our charitable purpose makes us so much more than an insurance company. We’re proud of our reputation as one of the most trusted insurers in our markets, and of the positive impact we make on society, by giving back all of our available profits to good causes.”
