Sterling Cup to return following 2023 success

Sterling Cup, the charity golf day organised by Adrian Flux Insurance Group broker Sterling Insurance, is returning for a fourth edition following this year’s successful event.

Sterling Cup 2023

The annual competition, which this year featured 80 golfers from across the industry, raised a total of £15,000 – an increase from 2021’s £10,000 and 2022’s £12,000 – for the benefit of four cancer charities in the UK. One of the beneficiaries supports Sterling employee Simon Wilks’ son Archie, who was diagnosed with stage four high-risk neuroblastoma in 2019.

“With the sun shining, and to see so many smiling faces coming together to help raise £15k, was a pleasure,” Sterling floor manager Peter Cook said in an emailed release. “To have Archie along again to tell us how well the treatment is going makes it all worthwhile and really reminds us of why we are all there.

“I’d like to thank all the players, teams, sponsors, and Manor of Groves for hosting the event and Kevin Carpenter for his amazing trick shot show. The two captains are great sports, and I’m very thankful for their involvement and all of the backroom team that help organise this day. It really is a team effort.”

Next year, the Ryder Cup-style event will take place at the same Hertfordshire course on September 12. Those who wish to participate will need to register here.

Previously, Cook said: “We don’t have any intention to stop it here. As long as the industry is willing to come together and support the event and put their teams forward, we’ll keep going. We started with 13 teams two years ago, and we’re up to 21 teams now.”
