Canopius Group has announced the hiring of Valentina Minetti as its head of medical professional liability (MPL).

Minetti assumes her new position immediately, bringing with her an extensive background in healthcare lines and actuarial science.

According to LinkedIn, her career spans almost three decades, marked by significant roles within the insurance sector. Minetti’s most recent position was active underwriter at Coverys Syndicate 1975. Before that, she managed the US hospitals portfolio at Beazley and started her career in actuarial positions at RSA, followed by GE Financial and Groupama.

Minetti is also a master’s graduate in mathematics and an affiliate member of the Institute of Actuaries.

The appointment is part of Canopius’ strategy to expand its medical professional liability division, a move that began last year with the recruitment of Ashley Moulton as healthcare underwriter and Alex Tindall as underwriting analyst.

“Valentina is highly regarded within the healthcare industry globally and the ideal candidate to lead this area of our business. Building upon the appointments of Ashley and Alex, the team is now perfectly positioned to further grow our market share in this specialist area. I am confident that, under Valentina’s leadership, it will go from strength to strength,” Canopius UK chief underwriting officer Alois Rouffiac said.
