The Aventum Group’s international insurance broker Consilium has hired James Read (pictured) as associate in Guernsey as part of expansion plans in the Channel Islands.

“I’m excited to be joining such a well respected team,” Read, who becomes part of the professional & executive risk solutions unit and will be leading the division’s sales strategy, said in an emailed release. “Consilium is on a journey to be one of the best specialty lines international insurance brokers in the market, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in that.

“I was also attracted by its unique and dynamic culture. Unlike most brokers in the market today, Consilium is not content to accept the status quo – it is always looking for ways to do things better and exceed client expectations. I find that refreshing and can’t wait to introduce new clients to the Consilium way.”

The key hire brings 16 years of sales and marketing experience to Consilium. His credentials include nearly nine years spent at Specsavers where he served as sports sponsorship head.

Nick Bachmann, Consilium’s managing partner for professional & executive risk solutions, commented: “I’m pleased to welcome James to the team. He is extremely well networked and excellent at client relationships with a solid background in sales and marketing strategy. He will be a huge asset to the [team] as we continue our growth plan, whether in the Channel Islands or our other key territories.

“We easily have one of the most experienced broking teams working in the international financial centres and the investment management community. The team’s combined expertise in this market, together with our in-house legal and exciting new actuarial capabilities, makes Consilium a world leader in global financial lines broking.”

The professional & executive risk solutions division, which has achieved double its budgeted revenue, expects to exceed that growth rate next year.
