Spring Insure brings in new senior underwriter

Specialist financial and professional lines managing general agent Spring Insure has announced the appointment of Shane Barry (pictured above) as senior underwriter, effective September 12. This appointment comes as Spring expands its European team, having recently received authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and Lloyd’s coverholder status in Ireland.

Specialising in professional indemnity, cyber, tech and media products, Barry has over 20 years of experience in the professional lines sector. He joins Spring from Hiscox Ireland. He was also the Ireland specialty insurance manager at Chubb Insurance.

Barry will report to Patrick Mettler, managing director of Spring’s European business.

“We’re in an exciting growth phase after our recent CBI authorisation and confirmation of Lloyd’s coverholder status,” Mettler said. “I’ve known Shane for a long time and so does the Irish professional indemnity market. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and fresh perspectives and so I’m delighted with his appointment and look forward to working with him to build the business.”
