Specialist financial and professional lines managing general agent Spring Insure has announced that it has received authorisation from the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) and Lloyd’s coverholder status in in Ireland – two key components for the launch of its European business unit.

Spring Insure’s European operation, based in Ireland, is led by Patrick Mettler. Mettler has more than 20 years of experience in the Irish insurance industry, and he most recently served as head of sales for Hiscox in Ireland. He was also head of financial lines and country manager for Chubb Insurance in Ireland.

“The CBI authorisation is an important milestone for the business. The new Dublin office will open shortly, and we are ready to accept risks as of today,” said Mettler in a statement. “We are an ambitious business with the kind of risk appetite that opens exciting opportunities for brokers. I’m excited to see what we can do together.”

Spring Insure provides a suite of financial and professional lines products in London, Guernsey, and – thanks to this recent authorisation – Dublin. The MGA, established in 2020, has secured backing from major insurance brands such as Beazley, Ascot, Aspen, Atrium, Argenta, Convex, Lancashire and MS Amlin. Spring Insure is part of the Howden Group.
